Caution: SMD LED is a current-operated device. The slight shift of voltage will cause a big change in current, which can damage the LEDs. Therefore, customers should use resistors in series for over-current protection. To ensure consistent light color on multiple LEDs connected in parallel, individual resistors are suggested, as shown in Circuit A. If the light color of each LED shown in Circuit B may differ due to different I-V characteristics of each LED.
High ambient temperatures can affect the brightness of SMD LEDs and their properties. It is recommended to keep the LEDs away from heat sources to maintain optimal performance.
Storage: Before unpacking, the recommended storage conditions are a temperature range of 5℃30℃ and humidity below 60% RH. Dehumidification should be done before use when it is stored for more than 2 months at 60℃/12 hours. After opening the package, the suggested storage requirement should be a temperature range of 530°C and humidity below 30%. SMD LED is sensitive to humidity and should be stored in a sealed container with a desiccant or nitrogen moisture-proof cabinet to avoid moisture absorption after unpacking. The moisture-proof level of SMD LED is MSL3. The component should be used within 168hrs(7 days) after unpacking and should be welded as soon as possible. If the component is exposed to the air for more than 168hrs(7days) or the desiccant is expired, it should be dehumidified before use.
Electrostatic Protection: SMD LED (especially the blue, yellow green, purple, white, and pink LED in InGaN structure) is sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD) that can damage its structure, resulting in abnormal performance such as excessive leakage current, low VF or unable illumination. To prevent this, an anti-static wristband or anti-static gloves should be worn when handling the LEDs. Grounding protection should be applied to all machinery and equipment tools, work tables, material racks, etc. (within 10Ω of grounding impedance). Anti-static bags, anti-static boxes, and anti-static turnover boxes should be used for storage or transportation, and plastic should not be used. It is recommended to use an ion fan to suppress electrostatic generation during operation. The voltage of the static field should be less than 100V in a 1-foot radius from the SMD LED component.
Clean: It is recommended to use isopropyl alcohol or other alcohol solvents instead of corrosive solutions to clean SMD LEDs.
