Caution: Far UV LED Chips are a current-operated device. The slight shift of voltage will cause big change of current, which may damage the LED chips. Therefore, customers should use resistors in series for the Over-Current-Proof.
In order to ensure consistent light output of multiple Far UV LED chips connected in parallel, individual resistors should be used for each LED chip separately, as shown in Circuit A below. If multiple Far UV LED chips are connected in parallel without individual resistors, the light output of each LED chip may vary due to the different I-V characteristics of each LED chip, as shown in Circuit B.
The performance of Far UV LED chips may be affected by high ambient temperature, which can cause a decrease in brightness and change in properties. Therefore, it is recommended to keep the Far UV LED chips away from heat sources to ensure optimal performance.
Storage: The recommended storage temperature for Far UV LED chips before unpacking is between 5℃30℃ with humidity below 60% RH. Dehumidification should be done before use if the Far UV LED chips have been stored for more than 2 months. The suggested storage requirement after opening the package is a temperature between 530°C with humidity below 30%. Far UV LED chips are sensitive to humidity and should be stored in sealed containers with desiccant or nitrogen moisture-proof cabinets to prevent moisture absorption after unpacking. The moisture-proof level of Far UV LED chips is MSL3. The Far UV LED chips should be used within 168hrs (7 days) after unpacking and should be welded as soon as possible. Dehumidification should be done if the Far UV LED chips have been exposed to the air for more than 168hrs (7 days) or if the desiccant has expired.
Electrostatic Protection: Far UV LED chips, especially those made with InGaN structure, are sensitive to electrostatic discharge (ESD) which can damage their structure and cause abnormal performance such as excessive leakage current, low VF or inability to illuminate. Therefore, the following precautions should be taken:
Wear anti-static wristbands or anti-static gloves while handling the Far UV LED chips.
Ground all machinery and equipment tools, work tables, and material racks with impedance below 10Ω.
Use anti-static bags, anti-static boxes, or anti-static turnover boxes for storage or transportation.
Do not use plastic. Use an ion fan to suppress electrostatic generation during operation. The voltage of static field should be less than 100V in a 1-foot radius from the Far UV LED chips.
Clean: It is recommended to use isopropyl alcohol or other alcohol solvents, rather than corrosive solutions, to clean Far UV LED chips.
